All 98 local councils in Iași county have voted to phase out land-based gaming venues. The coordinated decision makes the region the first in Romania to implement a complete ban on slot machine locations.
Municipal Voting Process
Each administrative unit within the county exercised its regulatory authority to restrict land-based gambling operations. The unified municipal decisions establish a consistent approach to venue oversight across the entire territory. Local administrations will now manage compliance with the updated operational standards. The regional ban follows the national adoption of Emergency Ordinance 7/2026 in February. The legislation grants county and municipal authorities new powers to regulate gaming hall operations.
